Colorado 2010

In July we took a somewhat spontaneous trip to Colorado. We had decided not to go this year, but the call of the mountains was too strong! We were there for four nights and we packed in as much hiking as possible. The first day we all went up to Bible Point with Granddad, Gammo, and their dogs.

Next, we hiked to Alberta Falls with Grammy, Granddad, and Gammo. We scrambled up the rocks all the way to the top. This is such a pretty place. We were all really proud of Luke for doing this because it is challenging for little people who have just turned four.

Our next hike was a really big accomplishment for Jackson. He kept asking if he could do a summit hike instead of just lakes and waterfalls. He's hiked Bible Point and Emerald Mountain a few times, and so he knows how awesome it feels to stand on top of a mountain and look around. We chose Deer Mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park, but I had my doubts about whether or not he could finish it. It was just over 6 miles round trip. The longest he'd hiked before this was probably 2-3 miles. And guess what...He finished!! It was such a special day for me to hike this mountain with Jackson, Daddy, and Mat.

We love getting to spend time at the YMCA of the Rockies. I told you we had some fun grandparents. Was I right, or was I right? What a wonderful blessing for us and the boys to get to spend time with them hiking and just hanging out.

Eating ice cream and having some laughs at the Rustic Cafe.

Celebrating Luke's birthday (again) at our cabin.

Playing putt-putt with Granddad.

Taking a silly group photo. I was shocked how my Dad, the king of silly pictures, is the only one playing it straight. Hmmm...I guess the joke's on us.

We are definitely NOT going next year..absolutely not...unless we change our minds.
